Greg Stevens, 56, of Norman passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour surrounded by his companion, Lora Laney, and family.

Born July 19, 1960, he was the son of Morris and Thelma Estes Stevens, both of whom survive in Bloomington.

Mr. Stevens attended Kurtz Church of the Nazarene and walked the journey of life with his best friend and companion of 25 years.

He graduated from Bloomington South High School. He drove a semitrailer for JayC warehouse, worked in a timber business and was currently employed with Valeo Seymour for the past 20 years. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, having campfires, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and watching late model dirt track racing and NASCAR racing. He loved spending time with his dog, Scooby, and with Lora’s family, Carl (Helen) Fish, Carla (Troy) Orr, Alex and Trevor Orr and grandson, Logan Laney.

Other survivors also include two brothers, Richard Stevens and Morris Dean Stevens, both of Bloomington; uncles and aunts, Minford (Shirley) Stevens, Charlotte Carner, Christine Sheridan and Ernie (Sharon) Estes; Lora Laney’s children, Toby Laney and Chad Laney; grandson, Logan Laney; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Spurgeon Funeral Home in Brownstown with Floyd Fisher and Bill Everhart officiating. Interment will be at Kurtz Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
