Mary Kate Schleibaum, 88, of Seymour passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017.

Born March 2, 1928, in Sparta, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Willie and Millie Campbell Farley, both of whom preceded her in death. In 1949, she married John Carl Schleibaum, who also preceded her in death.

Mary was a homemaker and devoted member of Central Christian Church, of which she was elected elder emeritus in 2004. She volunteered for a number of organizations including the American Red Cross, Hoosier Christian Village and the church clothing center. In addition to her volunteer activities, Mary served as a charter member of Hearts of Home Extension Homemakers Club.

A 1947 graduate of Shields High School, Mary worked at the shoe factory, shirt factory and Murphy’s before her employment at Bake Rite Bakery, where she met customer and future husband, John.

Survivors include son, Rick (Peg) Schleibaum of Seymour; daughters, Kathy (Jim) Laudick-Rispoli of Nashville, Brenda (Roger) Schaefer of Columbus and Bobbi (Glenn) Bosch of Indianapolis; grandchildren Ryan Spires, Jobi Fouts, Craig, Clay and Cory Ruble, Mark Schaefer, Todd and Curt Schleibaum, Amy Meredith and Hayden Bosch; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Earl Farley.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Voss & Sons Funeral Home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or donor’s choice of charity.
