Ronald Ernest Green, 83, of North Vernon passed away at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his residence.

Born Jan. 3, 1934, in Weston, Mr. Green was the son of the late Alvin Ernest and Sarah Edna Meek Green. He married his first wife, Barbara J. Gudgel, on Aug. 2, 1953, at Coffee Creek Baptist Church in Paris Crossing; she preceded him in death on April 15, 2008. He married his second wife, Barbara L. Bewley, on July 25, 2009, at Tea Creek Baptist Church in Lovitt and she survives.

Mr. Green worked as a truck driver for Lawyer Transportation in Seymour for five years, George Corya in Jennings County for two years and was owner and a driver for Green Trucking in North Vernon for 25 years. He also worked for Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus as a supervisor in computers for 18½ years. He was a 1952 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and a member of Tea Creek Baptist Church and the local Gideon’s International. Mr. Green served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing cards, flying and working on the farm.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Green of North Vernon; daughter, Shelley Kay Green of North Vernon; stepsons, Robert (Jackie) Fischvogt of Columbus and Richard (Dena) Hayden of Illinois; stepdaughters, Dana (Daryl) Dillman and Roberta (Randy) Renbeck, both of Pittsboro; brother, Fletcher (Joyce) Green of North Vernon; sisters, Loretta Earl of Russellville, Arkansas and Maxine (Carl) Hill of Holton; grandchild, Amanda (Brian) Brand of Greenwood; eleven stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Madilynn Brand, both of Greenwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Sarah Green; first wife, Barbara J. Green; son, Gregory E. Green on June 26, 2014; sister, Charlotte Randall in July of 1982; and grandson, Logan J. Green on Sept. 5, 2006.

A funeral service for Mr. Green will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon. Family and friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Tea Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Lovitt with members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Matt Hester Post 2021 providing military graveside rites.
