James W. “Dub” Davis, 78, of Seymour passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home.

Born June 10, 1938, he was the son of David and Ollie Mae Hamby Davis. On May 11, 1958, at Reddington Christian Church, he married Hazel Gray, who survives. They were blessed with three children and 58 years of marriage.

Jim was a graduate of Clinton High School and a member of Central Christian Church. He was a certified pipe fitter and the owner of Davis Pipe Fitter, Excavation & Crane. He loved his grandbabies, collected Harley Davidson memorabilia, was a fisherman and he loved his life’s work. Jim and Hazel enjoyed five winters in Florida in their retirement years.

Other survivors include daughters, Brenda (Mark) Decker and Belinda (David) McElroy; a son, Chad Davis; two brothers, Richard Lynn (Beulah) Davis and George Davis; two sisters, Dorthy Davidson and Victoria (Anthony) Brisco; a nephew, Tom (Kathy) Davis; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas J. and Charles D. Davis; and sisters, Louise (Cecil) Golden and Mae Jones.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with the Rev. Jon Carlstrom and the Rev. Bill Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Reddington Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
