David Mark “Coombsy” Coombs, 61, of Crothersville recently passed away at his home.

Born Oct. 7, 1955 in Seymour, he was the son of Milton “Buzzy” Cloombs and Alice Davis Newell, both of whom preceded him in death. On April 14, 2001, he married Brenda Christie Coombs, who survives in Crothersville.

He was a 1973 graduate of Seymour High School. Coombsy was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Seymour, loved to golf, liked NASCAR, was a sports enthusiast being a big IU and Dallas Cowboys fan, but most importantly he loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a body tech at Lloyd’s Body Shop, who was known for his excellent work on cars

Other survivors include his children, Crystie Salsman of Seymour and Nathan Coombs of Lapaz; four stepchildren, Brent (Amanda) Clem of Deputy, Jennifer (Kevin) Flood of Paris Crossing, Josie (James) Chadwick of Seymour and John (Amanda) Clem of Austin; 14 grandchildren, Dylon Imlay, Brenden Bridgewater, Adin Salsman, Madilynn Peacock, Ella Coombs, Brittany Clem, Codi McDonald, Alli McDonald, Kelsey Spangler, Zoe Spangler, Christy Dalzell, Harper Chadwick, Chandler Baker and Glen Hess; and a sister, Linda (Mac) McBryar of Mooresville.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Coombs.

A gathering of friends and family will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory, who is providing cremation services, in Crothersville.
