The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society, the nonprofit friends group of the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, will conduct a family fishing workshop from 9 a.m. to noon April 15 at the refuge, 12985 E. U.S. 50, Seymour.

The workshop will be at the visitor center. There is no fee, but preregistration is required.

Participants will go fishing with instructors during the workshop and be served a free hot dog lunch at the end of the day.

This is a basic fishing workshop geared toward children and adults with little or no experience. Topics covered will be fish identification, rod and reel selection, fishing lines, knots, bait, playing and landing fish and casting.

The refuge will provide all equipment and materials, but participants may bring their own equipment if they desire. No license is required for the event since April 15 is an Indiana free fishing day.
