A local dental practice recently underwent an ownership and name change, but it will be business as usual for its customers.

Dr. Derek Garcia purchased the J. Mark Thomas DDS practice at 321 W. Bruce St. in Seymour in November 2016, and the name changed to Garcia Family Dental, according to a news release from the firm.

Garcia was born and raised in Fort Wayne and is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

Thomas will be working alongside Garcia as an associate over the next year as Garcia transitions into full ownership.

Along with the name change, Garcia has given the business a new look, including a new website at derekgarciadental.com that better portrays their commitment to serving their patients at a higher standard of care.

Services currently include general and preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, orthodontics, dental implants and oral surgery.
