Project to repair, install bridge begins

Indiana Department of Transportation’s contractor plans to begin operations today to make repairs and install a 1¾-inch latex bridge deck overlay at the State Road 58 structure over White Creek’s south fork in Bartholomew County.

Motorists should anticipate State Road 58 being closed for up to 45 days at the bridge site, which is 9.57 miles west of I-65 in Bartholomew County.

Detour signage will route westbound traffic via I-65, U.S. 50, State Road 11 and State Road 258. Eastbound traffic will detour via State Road 258, State Road 11 and the interstate.

Milestone is the contractor for this $1.1 million bridge project, which also includes removal and replacement of State Road 58 bridges at:

  • Buck Creek, 4.32 miles east of State Road 258 in Jackson County
  • Branch of White Creek, 7.92 miles west of I-65 in Bartholomew County

The bridge over Buck Creek in Jackson County is slated for demolition and reconstruction in mid-July, while the bridge over the White Creek branch in Bartholomew County is tentatively scheduled to close in mid-May.

All State Road 58 bridges are single-span structures.
