Jerome D. “Jerry” Fox, 96, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Seymour and Charlestown, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017.

Born May 15, 1920, in Paducah, Kentucky, he was the son of Charles Edward and Bonnie Opal Peebles Fox. In September 1949 at Paris Crossing, he married Estella Jean Stone, who preceded him in death in 1994.

Jerome was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army Air Corps. He was a former member of Marion Baptist Church while in the Seymour area. Jerome worked as a welder at the Indiana Army Ammunition plant in Charlestown for 33 years. He retired in 1982. He loved to do woodworking and built rocking horses for his granddaughter and others.

Survivors include his son, Michael (Nancy) Fox of Cincinnati; granddaughter, Sarah Fox of Cincinnati; sisters-in-laws, Jean Fox of Sacramento, California, and Beatrice Simmons of Seymour; and several nieces and nephew.

Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Quentin and Charles Fox; and a sister, Mary Fox Bridges.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Uniontown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
