The Brownstown area ministers and churches are planning a daily Cross Walk as a part of the activities leading up to the Easter weekend celebration.

Beginning Monday and continuing through Thursday, at noon each day, the group will march from church to church in the Brownstown area carrying a large cross.

Each day has a different destination with the final destination ultimately being the Community Church of Brownstown, 117 Tanner St.

They will begin Monday in the parking lot of Brownstown Christian Church on Bridge Street and proceed to Brownstown Church of the Nazarene on Commerce Street.

On Tuesday, the walk will begin at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. On Wednesday, it will start at Brownstown United Methodist Church at the corner of Walnut and Poplar streets. On Thursday, it will begin at Brownstown Presbyterian Church on Elm Street.

Each day’s walk will take about 45 minutes and include singing, scripture, prayer and carrying the cross.

On Good Friday, the community is invited to be a part of the service at Community Church of Brownstown at 7 p.m. where the cross is carried into the service.

Other activities for the weekend include a sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. Easter Sunday at First Baptist Church, 1095 S. State Road 135.

Everyone is invited to participate in these commemorative activities during Holy Week.
