Student honored by local Exchange Club

Alexis Koch, a senior at Brownstown Central High School, was named January 2017 Youth of the Month by the Brownstown Exchange Club at a recent meeting.

Koch, the daughter of Derrick and Sharon Koch, was introduced by club member and committee chairman Kevin Gwin.

Koch is student council president and Class of 2017 vice president. She is a member of National Honor Society, Christian Club and Science Olympiad, in which she is involved in Dynamic Planet and Experimental Design. She is a Drug Abuse Resistance Education role model.

She is a member of the varsity cross-country team and was most valuable runner in 2013 and 2014 and mental attitude winner in 2016. She also is a member of the varsity track and field team and was named most valuable distance runner in 2013.

Koch thanked the club for the award. She said she is currently undecided as to which college she will attend but plans to major in psychology to pursue occupational therapy.

Brownstown Exchange Club meets at 7 a.m. every Tuesday morning at Dairy Queen in Brownstown. Visitors are always welcome.
