BOYS GOLF

Cougars win Shiner Invitational

RISING SUN

Trinity Lutheran repeated as the Shiner Invitational champions Saturday by combining for 328 strokes.

Cory Stuckwisch led the Cougars with a 7-over 78, which also was the second best individual score on the day.

Southwestern placed second with a 353, and Franklin Central was third at 355 in the 11-team field.

Trinity’s Jonathan Keith shot 81, Drew Royalty scored 84 and Chad Stuckwisch carded 85. Skyler Stahl finished the Cougar’s scorecard with 96.

Shooting a 75, Brown County’s Parker VanNess was the top medalist.

Braves blow past  Blue Jackets

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central topped Mitchell 176-227 on Monday in a dual match at Hickory Hills Golf Club.

Brayton Hattabaugh led the Braves with a medalist score of 40 (+5).

Gavin Bane shot 43 for the Braves followed by Chayse Shell (46), Chanler Fleetwood (47), Sam Huber (51) Mike Boshears and Adam Pottschimdt (52) and Hunter Tormoehlen (60).

Brownstown Central will next compete in the Edgewood Invitational (at Cascades Golf Course) on Saturday.

Owls fall to Cubs

MADISON

Madison topped Seymour 152-174 on Monday at Sunrise Golf Course.

The Cubs had a pair of golfers tie for medalist with even-par 36s.

Keaton Simpson led the Owls with 39, Tyler Bullard posted 41 and Tom Hoffmeier and Brantley Adams scored 46s.

Noah Beatty carded 48 and JP Nay shot 57 for the Owls.

Today, the Owls host Franklin Community at Shadowood Golf Course.

GIRLS TENNIS

Owls blank Lancers

Seymour didn’t drop a set in a 5-0 sweep at Edinburgh on Monday.

Hallie Crenshaw defeated Allie Schooler 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and Megan Baurle took No. 2 singles at 6-0, 6-1.

Kelli Armes didn’t lose a game in a double bagel win against Haley Jones.

The No. 1 doubles team of Rachel Collet and Katie O’Mara bested Hannah Gosman and Sophia Parmer 6-1, 6-1.

Grace Otte and Marie Armes teamed up at No. 2 doubles to defeat Katie Roberts and Pagie Johnson 6-1, 6-0.

The Owls (2-4) host Scottsburg today.

Dragons beat Braves

SELLERSBURG

Silver Creek defeated Brownstown Central 5-0 in a Mid-Southern Conference matchup on Monday.

Laken Reynolds fell to Ashley Less 6-4 at 6-1 at No. 1 singles while Claudia Sibrel dropped No. 2 at 6-1, 6-0 and Carly Brown fell 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

The No. 1 doubles team of Rachel Adkins and Olivia Hackman lost 6-0, 6-1 and Sydney Cockerham and Maggie Hogan were ousted 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2.

Brownstown (0-2) hosts Henryville tonight.
