GIRLS TENNIS

Owls beat Warriors

Sweeping all the singles spots, Seymour defeated sectional foe Scottsburg 4-1 on Tuesday.

Hallie Crenshaw topped Leah Hunefeld 6-4, 6-2 at No.1 singles, Megan Baurle beat Megan Johnson 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2 and Kelli Armes claimed No. 3 with a 6-0, 6-3 win against Eliza Mount.

The No. 2 doubles team of Marie Armes and Grace Otte bested Kinley Harmon and Hannah Brown 6-2, 6-1.

Braves remain winless

BROWNSTOWN

Brownstown Central High School girls tennis team dropped a match 4-1 to Henryville on Tuesday.

The team’s only win came at No. 2 doubles as Sydney Cockerham and Claudia Sibrel defeated their opponents 6-1, 6-3.

The Hornets swept the singles matches while also claiming No. 1 doubles.

Brownstown (0-3) will host Austin on Thursday.

BOYS GOLF

Owls top Franklin Community

Led by Keaton Simpson’s one-under medalist card of 35, Seymour thumped Franklin Community 175-240 on Tuesday at Shadowood Golf Course.

Tyler Bullard was next for the Owls with 42 and Noah Beaty shot 45.

Brantley Adams recorded 53 and Tom Hoffmeier completed the Owls’ five with 59.

SOFTBALL

Cougars win fourth straight

Trinity Lutheran High School girls softball team defeated Indianapolis Lutheran 6-3 Tuesday evening at home.

The Cougars jumped to a quick 4-0 lead over the first two innings and never looked back. The Cougars let Indianapolis Lutheran within two in the top of the fifth but responded with two more runs to provide some insurance.

Cougars’ Savannah Harweger led the offense, going 4-4 with a double and triple. Harweger scored three runs and batted in another.

Hannah Deaton picked up the win on the mound for the Cougars on a complete game. Deaton gave up 10 hits and three runs and records three strikeouts and one walk over seven innings.

Trinity has won four straight and is 6-1 on the season.
