Letter: Congress knows we’re paying attention to health care issue

To the editor:

“Practical approach right prescription for Congress”

“Imagine what things might be like if we lived in more functional political times?” With Republicans focused on the privately owned system and Democrats seeing an important role for government to play in health care, one-sixth of the U.S. economy, and we’ve seen how both systems work with the ultimate judge of our system, the consumer, left out of the final decision that is going to be decided upon.

This is our system, though, because our country is a constitutional republic, not a “representative democracy” as is claimed in the majority of former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton’s articles.

I also think the amount of congressional scrutiny paid to Congress’ goings-on has increased ensuring our elected Congress knows we’re paying attention. Just start over and repeal the ACA (Affordable Care Act).
