SEYMOUR

Larry Leon Dorsey Sr. 68, of Seymour was carried by the angels to our heavenly father on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at home.

Born Aug. 15, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Ada Hayden Dorsey, who raised him. On June 9, 1985, he married Margle Patterson Dorsey, who survives in Seymour.

Larry worked all his life. Starting as a small boy, he would shine shoes, sell paper bags at the market in Cincinnati and take the money home to his mother to help with the bills. Later in life, he worked at Aisin USA Mfg. Inc. for 20 years and then worked at Honda Manufacturing of Indiana for six years before retiring.

He was a kind, gentle, loving man having many friends, and he liked to joke and laugh. He was a prankster and loved to play jokes on his co-workers, kids and grandchildren.

Other survivors besides his loving wife of 32 years include six children, Larry (Michelle) Dorsey Jr. of Clarksville, Tennessee, Thomas (Gretchen) Dorsey of Greenfield, Dawn (Robert) Wasyleski of Schuyler, New York, Curtis (Kim) Tyler of North Vernon and Tracy (James II) Harvey and Sonja White, all of Seymour; two loving sisters, Barbara (Rusty) Reynolds and Peggy (Lump) Colwell, all of Crothersville; 19 grandchildren, one of whom he raised, Dave Salesman; 22 great-grandchildren; his church family at Christ Baptist Church of North Vernon; and six rescue dogs and one rescue cat whom he loved.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a son, Blake Tyler; three sisters, Joann Bonila, June Patrick and Janice Gonzales; two brothers, Darryl Dorsey and Sonny Dorsey; and a brother-in-law, Gerald (Red) Reynolds.

A celebration of life is planned for 1 p.m. April 29 at Crothersville Christian Church.
