Melvin T. McCullough, 89, of Seymour passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017.

Born April 1, 1928, in Westport, he was the son of Roland and Hazel Campbell McCullough, both of whom preceded him in death. On June 19, 1965, in Seymour, he married Tillie Faye Fredrick McKinney, who preceded him in death Aug. 14, 2003. He later married Dottie Kidd of Seymour at First Church of God, and she survives.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in North Vernon. He served in the U.S. Navy from May of 1946 through March of 1948. He worked as a central office engineer at the telephone company for more than 20 years. He also worked in the accounting department and was a route salesman, and he owned a grocery store in Cortland from 1961-1965.

Other survivors include his daughter, Bonnita (Gary) Graves; stepchildren, Linda Kay Bevers, Patricia (Danny) JoAnn Sutton, Bonnie Jean (Joe) Bowley, Richard Wayne (Billie) McKinney, Gary (Tina) Eisenmenger, John Eisenmenger, Tammy Downs, Luana Piercefield, Harold Eisenmenger and Michael Eisenmenger; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren and great-stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Sally (Ervin) Caldwell.

Besides his parents and first wife; he was preceded in death by his son, Edward McCullough and sister, Leota Jayne.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service in Seymour with Bishop Doyle Myers officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, Korean Veterans and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
