Steven Hubert “Steve” Acton, 61, of Norman passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at home.

Born Sept. 23, 1955, in Columbus, he was the son of Melvin Leroy and Priscilla Ann Smith Acton, both of whom preceded him in death. On Oct. 6, 1979, at Seymour First Baptist Church, he married Sally Beth Long, who survives.

He was a member of Seymour First Baptist Church. He graduated from Brownstown Central High School in 1973 and received an associate degree from Ivy Tech Community College. He worked for several years as an emergency medical technician, 19 years for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and at Columbus Regional Health as a biomedical engineer technician until his retirement. He was a member of Six Mile Masonic Lodge in Hayden and Elks Lodge 462 in Seymour. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, camping, boating and any activity with his children and grandchildren.

Other survivors include their children, Lucas “Luke” (Shelly) Acton and Elizabeth “Beth” (Brad) Acton Blair; six grandchildren, Branson Self, Andon Self, Miller Acton, Maddox Acton, Taylor Blair and Zeke Blair; and three brothers, Bob (Nancy) Acton, Gary (Virginia) Acton and Doug (Mildred) Acton.

Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Clifton Ray Long.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service with the Rev. Larry Tingle officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at Voss and Sons Funeral Service. A Masonic service will be at 4:45 p.m Sunday.

Memorials may be made to Schneck Medical Center Cancer Center, Hospice of Schneck Medical Center or Seymour First Baptist Church.
