John L. “Jack” Steinkamp, 74, of Media, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

Born in Seymour, he was the son of Glenn and Jean Steinkamp, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married for 51 years to Linda J. Steinkamp, who survives in Media.

He graduated from Indiana University with a doctorate in law and began working at what is now Lincoln Financial Group. He retired 36 years later as vice president and associate general council. He was a 28-year member of Faith Baptist Church in Fort Wayne and was a member of the 707 Club in Media.

Jack enjoyed the outdoors including golfing, traveling and taking daily walks. He loved to visit with family and friends and enjoyed all “woofers” he was privileged to meet. He loved learning and would constantly look for ways to educate himself. He was a kind, generous, big-hearted man who would give to and support anyone who was fortunate enough to know him or cross his path.

Other survivors include children, John DePoy Steinkamp of Fort Wayne, Linda Louise Steinkamp of Parker, Colorado and Kenneth Lyman (Rafaela Hadba) Steinkamp of Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Kevin LaLone, Nicholas Steinkamp and Coen Fields; sister, Susan (Ted) Reynolds of Fort Wayne; and brother, Robert (Nicky) Steinkamp of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home at 4017 Maplecrest Road in Fort Wayne with the Rev. Steven Roper officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Fort Wayne.

Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
