Nancy Ann Baxley, 82, of Seymour passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, surrounded by her family.

Born May 8, 1934, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, she was the daughter of Joseph and Ruth Messner, both of whom preceded her in death. On June 15, 1952, in Bellefontaine, she married Jack M. Baxley. She was married to the love of her life for 62 years before his death Dec. 8, 2014.

She was a 1952 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and worked as a secretary for Trinity United Methodist Church, the South Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church and Schwartz Pharmaceuticals before retiring in 1991. Together she and her husband enjoyed life at the lake, boating and motorcycle riding.

She had a love for music and animals and was a deeply committed Christian who was a member of Central Christian Church and recently attended Peter’s Switch Church of the Nazarene. She loved sitting in her Florida room watching the many birds that came to her feeders. She enjoyed being a guild volunteer and an office angel. She also was involved in The Prayer Shawl Ministry and was a prayer warrior for her many friends and family.

Survivors include her daughters, Jacquie (John) Sutphin and Jody (Doug) Heiman; grandchildren, Ryan (Caitlin) Sutphin, Alicia (Ryan) Reedy, Ethan (Kelsey Alexander) Heiman and Caleb (Liz) Heiman; great-grandchildren, Caden and Cohen Sutphin, Alivia and Adelyn Reedy and Levi Heiman; and best friends, Martha Wilson and Curly Bob.

Besides her parents and husband; she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Alan “Max” Baxley.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Burkholder Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Doug Heiman and pastors Jon Carlstrom and Keith Ross officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Red Sky Rescue and H.O.P.P.S. (Helping Our Pediatric Patients Smile, c/o Kosair Children’s Hospital).
