A Brownstown Central High School senior recently was named February 2017 Youth of the Month by the Brownstown Exchange Club.

Club member and committee chairman Kevin Gwin introduced Richayla Huff, who is the daughter of Melissa Huff, to other club members.

Huff is senior class president, was junior class secretary, a student council parliamentarian, National Honor Society vice president and American Red Cross blood drive chairwoman. She is a member of the Booster Club, FFA, Letterman’s Club and 4-H. She was a member of the parliamentary procedure debate team that was the district and section winner.

She was a member of the varsity volleyball team, serving as captain and was awarded most valuable player, mental attitude, all-conference and academic all-state honors.

Huff thanked the club for the award and said she is planning to attend Purdue University at West Lafayette and major in agribusiness.

The club selects six youths of the month from October through March each school year and then picks a youth of the year. Previous monthly winners this year are Jami Bryant in October and Ashley Kuhlman in November; Makenzie Bennett in December and Alexis Koch in January.

The Brownstown Exchange Club meets at 7 a.m. Tuesday mornings in the fellowship hall at Brownstown United Methodist Church, 110 N. Poplar St. Visitors are always welcome.
