Rolland I. Griffiths, 95, of Columbus passed away Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Brown County Health & Living Community in Nashville.

Born March 1, 1922, in Medora, he was the son of Roland D. and Olivia Lanier Griffiths, both of whom preceded him in death. On Nov. 13, 1943, while stationed in South Carolina, he married Margaret Joan Davis. She also preceded him in death.

He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged. He worked at Hamilton-Cosco Inc. for 43 years, retired for a couple of years, then he and Margaret took over caretaker duties at Eco Park for eight years before fully retiring. He was an avid Indiana University basketball fan. He enjoyed lapidary work and creating folk art and working on genealogy. He was involved in Garden City Church of Christ and volunteered in the Boy Scout program there.

Survivors include a son, William (Barbara) Griffiths of Columbus; a daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Ewing of Zionsville; and a daughter-in-law, LeAnn Griffiths of Mesquite, Texas.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven A. Griffiths.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brownstown Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
