Southern Indiana Center for the Arts’ community Cinco de Mayo celebration set for Friday has been moved from the center to Girls Inc. of Jackson County at 956 N. O’Brien St. in Seymour because of the possibility of inclement weather.

The event, which will begin at 5:30 p.m., includes free crafts, face painting, supplies for kids to make and take a Mother’s Day card, a foil relief project, an origami activity and pictures with special photo props.

At 6:30 p.m., a disc jockey will play some Latino music. That will be followed by Ballet Folklorico dancers performing traditional Mexican dances at 7:15 p.m., and the disc jockey finishing the evening with more music at 7:45 p.m.

Authentic Mexican food trucks will be on site for people to purchase food throughout the evening.

This event is presented by the arts center and the Latino Council in partnership with SMX Staffing.
