Seymour firefighters used about 100 gallons of water to extinguish an exhaust fan fire reported Tuesday at a furniture store on the far west side of the city.

That fire, reported at 8:13 p.m., caused an estimated $5,000 damage to the Furniture Liquidators store at 1471 W. Tipton St., according to Battalion Chief Eric Roll’s report.

The fire was reported in the southeast corner of the store.

The store was open for business Wednesday morning.
