SEYMOUR

Marie E. Mellencamp, 81, of Seymour passed away at 5:05 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2017, at Schneck Medical Center with her family by her side.

Born Dec. 28, 1935, in Marshalltown, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles and Lillian M. Lurvey Weber, both of whom preceded her in death. On Oct. 18, 2006, in Seymour, she married Donald Mellencamp Sr., who survives.

She was a member of Mountain Baptist Church in Seymour and had been employed as a licensed practical nurse, a waitress at Maid Rite in Seymour and had worked in several factories. She loved working in the yard, gardening, doing puzzles and crocheting. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved her family and friends. She served for 14 years with Community Provisions of Jackson County food pantry and 10 years with New Life Ministries of New York, making scarves for the homeless.

Other survivors include her children, Daniel (Margie) Luckey, Beth (Mark) Brock, Charles (Karen) Reynolds, Joe (April) Luckey and Dessa Luckey (Bobby Ray); stepchildren, Donnie (Brie) Mellencamp, Mike (Stacy) Mellencamp, Debbie (Brian) Burke, Teresa Sanford, Tony (Kay) Mellencamp and Jamie Mellencamp; 28 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Sabourin; siblings, Joe, Lester and Kenneth Weber, Louise Jumper and Lydia Weber; and three grandchildren, Josh Huddleston, Jeremiah Luckey and Andrea Luckey.

A private family graveside service will be at Riverview Cemetery.

A memorial service, conducted by Voss & Sons Funeral Service, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mountain Baptist Church at 4604 U.S. 31 in Seymour with the Rev. Van Breeding officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of service.
