8th annual Jackson County farm machinery show set at fairgrounds

The eighth annual Jackson County Antique Farm Machinery Show will be today through Saturday at the Jackson County Fairgrounds in Brownstown.

The Jackson County Antique Machinery Association Inc. event will start at 8 a.m. daily with prayer and the playing of the national anthem.

The show will feature Ford/Fordson tractors and equipment and Michigan-built engines and will be hosting the Ford/Fordson Collectors Association Inc. 26th annual F/FCA National Show and meeting.

Admission to the show is $2 for adults and free for children 12 and under. There also will be free gate entrance today for veterans and senior citizens.

All three days, there will be displays of vintage equipment and working gas engines with live demonstrations, arts and crafts, pedal and garden tractor pulls, barrel train rides, a swap meet and flea market and an open cruise-in for antique cars and trucks.

The Jackson County History Center will have arts and crafts and demonstrations in one of the fairgrounds buildings.

An antique tractor drive will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday. A silent auction will be from 2 to 5:30 p.m. Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Ham and beans and cornbread will be served at 6:30 p.m. Friday with the Midwest Station Band providing the entertainment at 7 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be tractor games (10:30 a.m.), a pedal tractor pull for children (11 a.m.), a garden tractor pull sponsored by the Southern Indiana Garden Tractors Pullers (1 p.m.), a skillet toss for women (2 p.m.), a wrench throw for men (2:30 p.m.) and tractor and garden tractor parades (5 p.m.).

A variety of food will be available from the Carr Township Conservation Club and others, and Amish homemade ice cream also will be available.

The show is sponsored by area merchants and the Jackson County Visitor Center.
