Seymour takes 7th in conference

MADISON

Seymour scored runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to defeat Madison 3-0 on Friday in the seventh-place game of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Alan Perry bunted in the third inning and later scored on a dropped third strike with the bases loaded.

A.J. Boshears singled in the fourth inning, went to second on a sacrifice bunt and scored on a single by Satoshi Hirose.

Seth Maki singled in the fifth and scored on a double by Tyler Bloom to complete the scoring.

Hirose pitched the shutout and had six strikeouts and one walk while allowing two hits.

On Monday, the Owls (9-8) will travel to Henryville.

Softball

Scottsburg pitchers toss no-hitter against Crothersville

SCOTTSBURG

Riley Pool and Grace Cannon combined to throw a no-hitter in Scottsburg’s five-inning 21-0 win Friday against visiting Crothersville.

Not only was Pool the winning pitcher, but she also helped herself on offense by hitting a grand slam and finishing with six RBI.

The Warriorettes scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning, added seven in the second and then tallied two in the third and fourth innings. They ended the game with 13 hits.

Crothersville pitcher Brittany Ross went the distance, walking 14 and striking out two.

Today, the Tigers (0-11) play in the Charlestown Tournament.
