CULLMAN, Ala. — An Alabama man wanted on multiple outstanding warrants has been charged with raping and sodomizing a child.

The Cullman Times reports (http://bit.ly/2re0XKV ) that 36-year-old Joshua Dwayne Aker was arrested this week and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that investigators were contacted by Cullman Regional Medical Center staff who suspected a child who had received care had been raped. Investigators identified Aker as the suspect and arrested him during a traffic stop. He was wanted on multiple warrants for various crimes that haven’t been specified.

He was charged in connection with the rape after being taken into custody, and remains in the county detention center without bond because of previous failure-to-appear warrants. It’s unclear if he has a lawyer.
