Officers investigating attempted armed robbery at area residence

Seymour police officers continue to investigate an attempted armed robbery that occurred Monday at about 8:30 p.m. outside a home on the city’s north side.

The investigation began when a man told police he pulled into the driveway of his home in the 800 block of North Broadway Street and was approached by two men he believed he knew, police said.

One of the men displayed a small pocketknife and demanded “money or drugs” from the man, who remained in his vehicle, police said.

The man said he told the two men he only had a small amount of cash, which led to the one with the pocketknife striking him twice in the face, police said.

A scuffle followed, which led to the two men leaving without the money, police said.
