LYNCHBURG, Va. — Police in Virginia say a man who was shot during an alleged burglary has died.

Local news outlets report Lynchburg police were informed Tuesday that 18-year-old Dedric Shyheim Megginson died at a local hospital after being shot during an incident police say was isolated but not a random act.

Police say officers responded to a Lynchburg residence Monday night after receiving a call that someone was robbing the home and shots were fired inside. There, police found one man lying in the doorway and another on the yard both with gunshot wounds.

Police say the second man involved is 18-year-old Darrell Jermaine Saunders, who was in serious but stable condition at a local hospital.

Police say no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing.
