AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine Attorney General Janet Mills is delivering the address at the annual observance at the Maine Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
The memorial contains the names of 83 law officers killed in the line of duty. No new names are being added for this year’s event on Thursday.
The memorial on State Street, adjacent to the capitol building, was dedicated on May 25, 1991, following a fundraising effort by the Maine Chiefs of Police Association. The names on the memorial date to 1808. There are 15 game wardens and 10 state troopers on the memorial.
