Police continue to search for three men who held up a clerk at gunpoint early Thursday morning at a hotel on Seymour’s far east side.
That robbery was part of a crime spree that also included a car-jacking on Indianapolis’ far west side at about midnight Wednesday and the robbery of a Columbus gas station a short time after the one in Seymour, police report.
The search for the three males, who also are suspects in a car-jacking on the west side of Indianapolis, began when they fled on foot after the white Hummer H2 they were in crashed near the Berkeley Common Apartments. According to Seymour police, three armed men entered the Knights Inn Hotel at 207 N. Sandy Creek Drive and ordered the clerk to empty the cash register. The men then fled the area in a vehicle in a white Hummer.
Seymour police notified surrounding police departments about the robbery, reported at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday. At about 3 a.m., a robbery was reported at the Ricker’s gas station at 3545 West County Road 450S. After receiving information about the Seymour and Columbus robberies, Trooper Kory Clark spotted the white Hummer in the area of Interstate 65 and State Road 46 at Columbus. That set off a pursuit on Interstate 65 that wound up on the south side of Indianapolis.
