Owls start strong to defeat Brown County

NASHVILLE

Seymour scored five runs in the top of the inning to lead all the way in a 10-5 win Thursday at Brown County.

R.J. Kleber led the Owls offense with three hits, including a double, and three RBI. Ty McCory added a double and a single.

Jayden Brown pitched the first three innings, giving up one hit, five walks and two runs and striking out two. Then Luis Munoz took to the mound for 2 2/3 innings, striking out three and allowing three hits, two runs and four walks. Zach Carpenter finished the game by striking out one and giving up a run and two hits.

The Owls improved to 12-8.

Softball

Braves run-rule Mitchell

BROWNSTOWN

Scoring in every inning, Brownstown Central defeated Mitchell 11-1 in five innings Thursday at home.

The Braves finished with 10 hits to the Bluejackets’ five. Leah Stidam and Chloe Carlin both had a pair of doubles, and Zoe Fountain singled twice. Fountain, Carlin, Stidam and Claire Poulton each scored twice.

Jami Bryant led the way with three RBI on offense and won in the circle, striking out seven and only walking one.

The Braves improved to 12-14 on the season.

Tigers drop road game

MADISON

With the game tied at 1 after one inning, Shawe Memorial piled on the runs from there in a 21-3 five-inning win against visiting Crothersville on Thursday.

Crothersville managed four hits in the game, including two singles from Brittany Ross.

In the circle, Ross gave up nine hits and 17 walks and struck out four.

The Tigers fell to 0-12.
