Bowen H. Durham, 83, of North Vernon, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017, at Heritage House in Greensburg.

Born Jan. 7, 1934, in Seymour, he was the son of Helen Durham, whom preceded him in death. On Feb. 9, 1957, in Seymour, he married Bonnie Russell, who survives.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 655, both of Seymour. He retired from Dorel Juvenile Group (Cosco).

Other survivors include his son, Richard L. “Dick” (Karen) Durham, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Engelking and Frances O’Sullivan, and six brothers, Howard, Thomas, Clarence, Wentiford, Frank and Ralph Durham.

The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with the Rev. Brien Stout officiating. Burial will follow at the Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Madison at a later date.

Visitation will be from 3 until time of service Thursday.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled American Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans 7, all of Seymour, will have a honorary flag presentation with “Taps” to follow the service Thursday.

Memorials may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
