Gettin’ Piggy With It, a Brownsburg-based barbecue team, recently won grand champion and also took top honors in the ribs and brisket categories in the second Jackson County Backyard Barbecue Cookoff at the Jackson County History Center in Brownstown.

No. 1 in chicken was Bankin’ Baby BBQ of Columbus, Rollin’ Smoke Bar-B-Que from Elizabethtown took first place in pork and Great White Smoke BBQ earned first place in burgers and in showmanship.

The top winner in the One Bite Challenge was Huey’s BBQ of Bedford, while Scooter’s Family BBQ from Deputy earned people’s choice by getting the most votes through tickets purchased for a taste.

The cookoff drew 13 teams.

Colton Fleetwood of Jackson County was the coordinator of the two-day event, which was May 12 and 13 at the history center campus at 105 N. Sugar St.
