Poker run planned to benefit shelter

The Jackson County Dog Shelter committee is sponsoring the Ride for the Dogs poker run June 10 at the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, 150 E. State Road 250, Brownstown.

Starting at 9 a.m., the all-terrain vehicle, utility task vehicle and jeep ride will travel through western Jackson County. There will be several stops during the nearly 75-mile route, including Salt Creek Winery in Houston.

The ride will end at the sheriff’s department between 1 and 2 p.m., where lunch will be provided.

The cost is $25 for adults and $15 for those 15 and younger. That includes lunch, a T-shirt and one poker hand. A valid driver’s license is required.

Registration will start at 8 a.m. Online registration is available at rideforthedogs.com.

The ride will be conducted rain or shine.

All proceeds will go toward building the Jackson County Dog Shelter.
