Southern Indiana Center for the Arts has announced openings for its annual summer art camp.

Weekly camps, running from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, are on the following dates:

•June 5 through 9: Preschool and kindergarten (ages 4, 5 and 6)

•June 12 through 16 and June 19 through 23: First, second and third grades

•June 26 through 30: Fourth, fifth and sixth grades

These spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a limit of 32 children per week. Camps are for the student’s current grade.

All students interested in art camp must fill out an application, and the camp fees must be submitted with the application in order to reserve a space. Registration is $60 per student for SICA members and $95 for nonmembers. All art supplies are included.

The camps for preschool through third grade will spend time with four different teaching artists working on a variety of projects involving music, painting/drawing and clay pottery.

Camps for grades 4, 5 and 6 will spend time with three different teaching artists working on 2D art, 3D art and pottery.

A closing program and display of artwork will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday of each camp.

New this year are all-day camps in July for children in fourth grade and up.

These camps will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 10 and 11 for grades 4 through 6 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 12 and 13 for grades 7 and up. Students will spend two hours per project with six different artist instructors teaching 2D art, 3D art, graffiti art, print making, basket weaving and pottery wheel.

There is a limit of 15 children per camp. Registration is $90 per student for SICA members and $125 for nonmembers. All art supplies are included.

Memberships also may be purchased through the SICA office, and new members will receive the camp discounts. One-year memberships are $25 for individuals and $50 for a family and include discounts for future classes and events at the center. Grandparents who have a family membership may enroll their grandchildren at the member’s discount rate.
