James Noggle, 82, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Hancock Regional Hospital.

Born June 30, 1934, in Urbana, Illinois, he was the son of Wave L. and Elizabeth G. Conard Noggle, both of whom preceded him in death.

He received his bachelor’s degree in television and radio with a minor in business and industrial supervision from Western Michigan University. While at college, he was active with the service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega. He served in the U.S. Army.

He worked for Frontier Communications as a technician for many years before retiring in 1998. He was a member of Seymour Lions Club and a 26-year member of Fairlawn Presbyterian Church in Columbus. He also was an Eagle Scout and then continued his path with the Boy Scouts by becoming a Boy Scout leader for many years. He loved the outdoors, including fishing and camping, and was active in the church, where he especially enjoyed singing with the choir. He also did copper enameling.

Survivors include his children, Laura (Tim) Reardon and Andrew J. Noggle, all of Greenfield, and Heidi Noggle of Seattle, Washington; stepsons, Greg Trimnell of Florida and Mike Trimnell of Columbus; two grandchildren, Christopher (Kristin) Thomas and Austin Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Cyah Thomas and Hayden Hinton.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara (Austin) Noggle; his second wife, A. Geneva Noggle; and a brother, Phillip Noggle.

A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 4, at Fairlawn Presbyterian Church at 2611 Fairlawn Drive in Columbus. After the service, there will be a casual fellowship of friends and family at the church.
