SEYMOUR

Cyrus Brent Johnson, 37, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Born on May 5, 1980, he was the son of Brent Johnson and Gail Johnson, both of whom survive. To put a smile on his face, was to spend time with his daughter and pride and joy, Mesadi “Sadi”, who also survives.

His first venture in the business world was as owner of a pizza business in Garden City. The food industry was his favorite workplace until he applied for and was hired by RR Donnelley in Seymour. He looked forward to going to work every day and was very thankful for the company giving him a job.

He was a master chess player, poker player and a motorcycle enthusiast. Video games were his challenge in life. If he was able to spend time doing things he enjoyed the most, you would find him at a pond, lake, river or the ocean — swimming, fishing, paddle boating or water skiing. His favorite question and answer game was Bible trivia.

He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will be missed, but we are ready to say, “Our loss is heaven’s gain.”

Other survivors include his paternal grandmother, Peggy Johnson; maternal grandmother, Doris Cooksey; sister, Misti; brother, Trent; nephews, Kaden and Noah; nieces, Lannie, Jannie and Lauren; aunts, Janet Spear, Vicki King and Christie Hague; uncles, Glen Brock, Keith Ritchie and Jim Crouch; and many cousins. He was appreciated and loved by all.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dale Cooksey and Palmer Johnson.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with the Rev. Ken Earnest, officiating. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday

Memorials may be made for Sadi’s education fund.
