A new option for health care soon will open in Seymour.

Kroger Co. is expanding its pharmacy at Jay C Foods Plus in the Village Center at 1541 E. Tipton St. by adding The Little Clinic.

With the closing of the Minute Clinic at Seymour’s CVS Pharmacy in late 2016, The Little Clinic will provide people with another choice for walk-in health services.

The new Jay C clinic will not have a physician but will be staffed with board-certified nurse practitioners who can diagnose and treat common illnesses, including bronchitis, sinus infections, seasonal allergies and the flu.

The clinic will be located in a 565-square-foot area at the front of the store and include two examination rooms, a restroom, a supply room and a waiting area, according to project designs approved by the state in December 2016.

Other services available will include physicals, health screenings and vaccinations.

There are currently The Little Clinic locations at Kroger stores in Columbus, Bloomington and Franklin.

The clinic is currently under construction and is expected to open at the end of July. Some interior areas of the store have been changed to accommodate the new clinic.

The Little Clinic, based in Nashville, Tennessee, was established in 2003 with its first locations in Louisville, Kentucky. The company was purchased by Kroger in 2010 and now has 210 locations in Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arizona, Georgia, Virginia, Mississippi and Colorado.
