ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester judge has been sent to jail without bail to await a July 6 court date on a missed urine test related to her previous drunken driving charge.
City Court Judge Leticia Astacio was arrested Monday on a bench warrant issued by Judge Stephen Aronson after Astacio failed to have a court-ordered test for alcohol consumption last week.
She was returned to jail Thursday after a two-hour hearing to determine if she had violated the August 2016 conditional discharge of an earlier DWI charge by failing to take the test. She was found guilty of the violation after testifying in her own defense.
Astacio said she didn’t know about the test because she was in Thailand with spotty cell phone service.
Her lawyer, Ed Fiandach, said he’ll appeal.
