A public hearing to learn more about a project to widen and modernize Interstate 65 in Jackson and Bartholomew counties is set for 6 p.m. today at Brownstown Town Hall, 200 W. Walnut St.

The meeting, sponsored by the Indiana Department of Transportation, will include a brief presentation followed by a formal public comment period.

INDOT is encouraging the public to arrive early and ask questions before the presentation by project staff, who also will be available after the formal hearing.

The project will include 14.25 miles of the interstate between Seymour and Columbus. The public can review the plans online at in.gov/dot/div/contracts/65se/65SE.htm.

Written comments about the proposal must be submitted by 5 p.m. today. Comments may be emailed to [email protected].

The final selection of the build-design team is expected to be made after today’s public comment deadline.
