The Indiana Department of Transportation plans to reopen State Road 135 to traffic this evening at a small structure replacement site 5 miles north of U.S. 50 in Jackson County.
Barricades will be removed when construction of the 10-by-5-foot concrete box culvert at a branch of the South Fork of Salt Creek near Freetown has ended.
The north-south highway should reopen late today — weather permitting — but detour signage will not be taken down until Monday or Tuesday.
Olco of Batesville is the state’s contractor for this $456,650 bridge contract, which includes installation of a small structure on State Road 135 at a branch of Hamilton Creek east of Christianburg Road in Brown County. Removal and replacement of that arch culvert 7.6 miles north of State Road 58 is scheduled to begin within two weeks. This will require closure of State Road 135 for up to 30 days.
