OGALLALA, Neb. — Authorities have identified two people killed in a collision on Interstate 80 in western Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says 38-year-old Aaron James Davis, of Greeley, Colorado, died at the scene of the Thursday night crash, while 71-year-old Kent Brakken, of Cedaredge, Colorado, was pronounced dead at an Ogallala hospital.

The patrol says the collision occurred just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, about 5 miles (8 kilometers) west of Ogallala. The Nebraska State Patrol says an eastbound pickup truck driven by Brakken crossed the median and rammed into a westbound pickup driven by Davis.

Investigators say seat belts were used in both vehicles. The specific cause of the accident is still under investigation, but medical issues have been ruled out.
