RICHMOND, Va. — Police say two teenagers were killed in a shooting in Virginia’s capital city.

The Richmond Police Department identified the teens killed in Wednesday’s shooting as 15-year-old Christian K. Singleton and 16-year-old Ketron R. Wells.

Police say officers found the teens lying on the ground near each other after responding to reports of random gunfire late Wednesday.

Officials say they were students in Richmond’s public schools.

Police Chief Alfred Durham says it’s the second time this year that two teens have been shot and killed together. A 15-year-old and 16-year-old died in March after being shot in Mosby Court, one of Richmond’s public housing complexes.

Durham is urging anyone with information about both shootings to contact authorities. He says “staying silent is no longer an option.”
