GRAND ISLE, Vt. — The Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife is inviting young anglers and their families to the 17th annual Grand Isle Family Fishing Festival at the Ed Weed Fish Culture Station in Grand Isle.
The Saturday festival is being held in conjunction with Vermont’s Summer Free Fishing Day which is also Saturday.
The festival offers basic fishing instruction and the opportunity for kids to catch big trout in the hatchery pond.
While the event as a whole is for families, fishing in the hatchery pond is only open to kids. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Saturday also marks the opening of Vermont’s bass fishing season.
