WILMINGTON, Del. — A big event to adopt pets is planned in Delaware next weekend.
About 200 puppies and kittens were airlifted to Delaware on Saturday. They came from at-risk and overcrowded shelters in Arizona and California.
They are part of the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Second Chance program. It welcomes at-risk animals from shelters locally and nationally to take part in the adoption opportunities at the Mega Adoption Event.
They will join about 1,000 adoptable animals in a second annual adoption event sponsored by the Brandywine Valley SPCA. The inaugural event in December found homes for 886 animals.
The event is scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday at Bellevue State Park near Wilmington.
Admission is free. The adoption fee is $20. More than 5,000 visitors are expected.
