BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Authorities are investigating after officers found a man fatally shot near an alley.

Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/2suyeSK ) police were responding to a report of a person down when they found 32-year-old Jonathan Ringstaff near an alley behind a house on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Birmingham police Sgt. Bryan Shelton says police will work hard to piece together what happened to the victim so that the family can have some closure.

Ringstaff is Birmingham’s 47th homicide so far this year.
