Barnes places fourth at meet of champions

Recent Brownstown Central graduate Joseph Barnes placed fourth in the shot put at the Midwest Meet of Champions on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University.

The senior all-star meet was contested by top athletes from Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.

The Indiana State University commit tossed 58 feet, 8¼ inches, which would have broken his school record at Brownstown Central, which is 57-10.

Of the throwers from Indiana, Barnes was second. Ryder Emberton, the reigning state champ, was the meet champion (63-6¾).

At the recent state meet, Barnes placed third with a throw of 56-3½.
