BALTIMORE — A man has died after a fire at a Baltimore rowhome.

Media outlets report the fire broke out early Monday at a home in east Baltimore. Fire officials say heavy fire and smoke were showing on the first floor of a two-story, end-of-group rowhome. Fire department spokeswoman Blair Adams says crews found the man in the home and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Adams says a woman escaped and was taken to an area hospital in good condition.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
