SALT LAKE CITY — Police are releasing the name of a 6-year-old Provo girl hit and killed shortly after leaving a birthday party when an 18-year-old driver veered off the road.

The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/2sl5wnz ) that Provo police said Monday Iris Arnold was standing next to a parked car with a cousin and their grandfather when they were hit by the suspected drowsy driver.

Police say Iris died of her injuries at a hospital on Saturday. Her cousin and grandfather were hospitalized with critical injuries.

Prosecutors are expected to weigh possible criminal charges in the case.
